Medicare Supplement Insurance

Original Medicare consists of Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B. Medicare Part A (hospital insurance) covers inpatient care, including care received while in a hospital, skilled nursing facility, and in limited circumstances, at home. Medicare Part B (medical insurance) covers medical services and supplies that are deemed medically necessary to treat you. They can include outpatient care, preventive services, ambulance services, and some medical equipment. A Medicare Supplement Insurance policy, commonly referred to as “Medigap,” helps pay some of the health care costs that Original Medicare does not cover, such as copayments, coinsurance and deductibles. After Original Medicare pays its share of covered health care costs, the Medigap policy then pays its share. The two most common Medigap plans are referred to as Plan G (deductible) and Plan F (no-deductible). To be able to purchase Medigap insurance, you must have Medicare Parts A and B. Most Americans become eligible for Medicare when they turn 65. If you are receiving Social Security or Railroad Retirement benefits at that time, you will be automatically enrolled in both Medicare Part A and B.  For help in finding the right plan for you, contact us now.
